On July 31st, 2025, the historic Chateau St. Havel in Prague was filled with aromas and flavors of European fruits. Journalists, influencers, agri food professionals and healthy living enthusiasts gathered for the first event of the three year ‘Europeanfruits’ campaign, co-funded by the European Union,, which brings Europe’s fresh fruits closer to consumers in the Czech Republic, Poland and Greece.
The evening began with a warm welcome and continued with two inspiring presentations:
- Athanasios Paschoulas, representative of ASEPOP Naoussa, the beneficiary of the Europeanfruits campaign, presented the cooperative’s objectives through its participation in the campaign, highlighting the quality and safety of European fruits – such as peaches, nectarines, cherries, apricots and kiwis – cultivated in Greece and exported across Europe.
- Nutritionist Eliška Čížková shared scientific insights on the health benefits of fruits, reminding us why it is important to consume at least five servings of fruits and vegetables per day – a simple habit that contributes to a balanced diet, energy and overall well being.
Fun & Useful Tips from the Event
- Kiwi in marinades: The enzyme actinidin helps break down proteins, making kiwi ideal for marinating meat and making it more tender and easier to digest.
- Rainbow on your plate: Choose fruits and vegetables of different colors to get a variety of vitamins and antioxidants.
- Fruits for hydration: With 70–90% water content, fruits are a natural way to stay hydrated, especially during the summer months.
According to data presented at the event, fruit consumption in the Czech Republic is lower than the European average. This is the perfect opportunity to make the most of the fresh, high quality European fruits available to us and turn balanced nutrition into an everyday habit.
The Europeanfruits campaign will continue with activities in the Czech Republic, Greece and Poland, bringing even more ideas on how to enjoy fresh European fruits every day.
