On Friday, April 24, 2026, journalists, opinion leaders, and professionals from the agri – food sector gathered in Thessaloniki for a Press Event dedicated to fresh European fruits, within the framework of the European campaign EuropeanFruits, co – funded by t he European Union and implemented in Greece, Poland, and the Czech Republic.
The event took place at The Met Hotel and marked an important activity of the campaign in Greece, creating a direct communication channel with media representatives and agri – food professionals. During the event, the key pillars of the EuropeanFruits campaign were presented. The program is implemented by ASEPOP Naoussa as the Beneficiary and Novacert Ltd as the Implementing Body, with a focus on the value of fresh European fruits, t he high quality and safety standards that characterize them, and the importance of including them in daily nutrition as a core element of a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
The speakers ’ contributions were particularly insightful. Mr. Athanasios Paschoulas, Marketing Project Manager of ASEPOP Naoussa, presented the beneficiary organization and its role in promoting high – quality European fruits.
Mr. Vasilis Bougas, General Manager of ASEPOP Naoussa, highlighted the importance of promoting European fruits as a tool for consumer awareness, emphasizing the role of strict European quality and safety standards and the need to strengthen the international outreach of the agri – food sector through initiatives such as the EuropeanFruits program.
Additionally, Ms. Vasil iki Karampasi, nutritionist, shared practical tips on incorporating fruits into everyday diets, underlining their role in a balanced dietary pattern.










A standout presentation was delivered by Dr. Spyridon Mamalis, Professor of Marketing and President of ELG O – DIMITRA, who highlighted the European system for ensuring the quality and safety of fresh fruits and vegetables.
He presented the EU regulatory framework, the strict production standards, and the extensive controls throughout the supply chain — from “ farm to fork ” — emphasizing that safety and quality are inseparable concepts and key pillars of consumer trust.
He also referred to the importance of traceability, food regulations, and European strategies for a sustainable and responsible food system.
